Returning to my childhood

Returning to my childhood

Hey everyone, I’m back, how are you doing? Lots of us must have been so familiar with the legendary book series Harry Potter written by J.K Rowling. Well, it’s summer time right now, so I need to rewatch the whole series! As I remembered, the last time I’ve been watching the series must be since 2020; the last time that I’ve been holding the heavy books was since 2017. A long time has passed, but Harry Potter is still producing new episodes, I haven’t watch them yet though.

I’ve spent my whole evening today with my family just to rewatch “Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone”, which is as nostalgic as how I remember it to be. Oh how I wish to watch Harry Potter as if it was my first time again. The first movie introduced a boy named Harry Potter to us, who was an orphan that survived through the deadly spell of the Dark Lord. He was then sent to a magical school where he learned about dark magics, spells and potions with the wizard professor, and started finding out the identity of the person who killed his parents.

Personally, I find that this movie was not jaw dropping enough since the actors were still children, yet the characters’ development went really well, and we cannot not mention how the director has convey different meanings through small details. Such as when Professor Snape asked Harry a question during the potion session : “What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?”. The fans widely discuss a hidden, emotional motive behind the first question. In Victorian flower language, asphodel is a type of lily that signifies “My regrets follow you to the grave,” and wormwood symbolizes bitter sorrow. This would mean Snape was secretly expressing bitter regret over Lily Potter’s death. That was such a cool detail, don’t you think so?

How many times have you watched Harry Potter? What is your favorite character in the whole series as well? Mine is Draco Malfoy, I used to spend a whole week watching edits and finding facts about him, haha:>>. Tell me more about your memories with this series of book, I would love to hear! And if you see this post, this is your sign to rewatch a film that built up your childhood!
